Chocolate Milk – Blue Jeans (1981)

delantera2 Blue Jeans (1981)
One of the best later albums by Chocolate Milk — a bit different than their earlier work with Allen Toussaint — but still bouncing along in a sweet 80s groove, with more than enough traces of their roots as a funk band! Leo Nocentelli’s sitting in on guitar, adding some nice licks to keep some tracks a bit more firmly grounded in tradition, despite some more modern production touches — and titles include “Let’s Go All The Way”, “Like My Lady’s Love”, “Honey Bun”, “Running On Empty”, and a version of Otis Redding’s “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long”. (Dusty Groove America, Inc.)

Foxy – Get Off: The Best Of Foxy (1995)

delantera_foxyGet Off: The Best Of Foxy (1995)
A pretty catchy bit of Miami club from the late 70s. The group’s actually got a strong acoustic sound underpinning their grooves — with some excellent percussion underneath the best tracks, and some vocals that almost hit a scatting harmony range that reminds us of Side Effect. There’s a definite Latin bent to some of the better tunes too — almost hitting in a Kid Creole style, but without the retro touches.
Tracks:
1. Get Off Your Aaahh And Dance
2. Let’s Love
3. People Fall In Love (While Dancing)
4. Get Off
5. Tena’s Song
6. Party Boys
7. RRRRock
8. Hot Number
9. Head Hunter
10. Chicapbon-Chicapbon
11. Lady
12. Let’s Make Love
13. Faster Than A Speeding Bullet
